In honor of World's Largest Cruise Night, which is taking place on Oct. 13, we have a second review of a Princess ship. This review of Princess Cruiselines' Crown Princess was written by Caitlin, who works in reservations at Lynott Tours:
I had the privilege of taking a tour of the Crown Princess cruise ship with Princess Cruises. I have been on two previous cruises with another cruise line, so I was excited for the chance to see a Princess cruise ship and what they offer.
First we took a tour of The Piazza located on Plaza Deck. It was beautifully designed and very elegant with a white piano in the center as well as a guitar player. We took a walk around and were able to explore the Internet café, Vines Bar,and the International Café. There are some rooms on the Plaza Deck that we were able to take a look at. The rooms were outside cabins, and it was plenty of room for 2 travelers. From there we walked through Gatsby’s Casino, which is located on the Fiesta Deck of the ship. We then proceeded to the Promenade Level. Our first stop was Club Fusion, a large lounge/bar area that has plenty of seating and a dance area for anyone who is in the mood to let loose. Crown Grill was our next stop. It is a elegant restaurant with a delicious menu, however there is a supplement of $25 to eat there. We then took a walk through the photo gallery and got to see both the Explorers Lounge as well as the Wheelhouse Bar. From the Wheelhouse bar we got to relax for a bit in the Princess Theater. The Theater is two levels and there is not a bad seat in the house. There are always two shows or performances at night to make sure everyone on board will able to see at least one performance.
After getting a chance to see some of the amenities on board, we took a tour of some of the other cabins on board. We were able to get a look at a mini-suite with a balcony, an inside room, a handicapped room, as well as the St. John’s suite. Each room comes with either a queen bed, or two twin beds, private bathroom, flat screen television, desk, and closet space. In the mini-suites, handicapped room, and the St. John’s suite, there is a separate sitting area with another flat screen television.
Once we completed a tour of the rooms, we took a trip up to the Lido and Sun Deck. The Lido Deck has the Neptune’s Reef & Pool as well as the Calypso Reef & Pool. Lido Deck is also home to the Lotus Spa. The Sanctuary is on the Sun Deck. This is a lovely area for anyone wanting to relax on board with a nice massage or take a few minutes for themselves to enjoy some peace and quiet. There is another pool on the Sun Deck which also has Movies Under the Stars, a wonderful way to relax outside by the pool all while enjoying a good movie. Sabatini’s restaurant is located towards the back of the ship, which is a beautiful Italian restaurant.
The tour of the Crown Princess was everything I had expected it to be. After the tour was completed, we were able to enjoy a lunch in the DaVinci Dining Room. We enjoyed a four course lunch with appetizers, freshly baked breads that they bake on board, pasta, entree and dessert. For an appetizer we were able to choose between shrimp or fruit appetizer. I choose the fruit platter which was a delicious combination of melon, pineapple, watermelon, and cantaloupe. After the appetizer we had a wonderful pasta dish with broccoli, goat cheese, and a creamy sauce. For our entree we had a choice between beef or salmon. I choose to have the beef with vegetables and potatoes. For dessert we had dark chocolate souffle and coffee. The entire meal was wonderful and more than I had expected.
After lunch, we were free to leave the ship, as hard as it was. I am very excited at the thought of taking a Princess Cruise and being able to explain to everyone what I experineced on board . I highly recommend for everyone to take a Princess cruise, either on the Crown Princess or another ship, so they can experience a wonderful cruise on a stupendous cruise line.
